Less than a week to go until Mother’s Day! We here at Art of Appreciation are putting the final touches on those beautiful gift baskets that are shipping via 2-day delivery… if it doesn’t go out tomorrow (Wednesday, May 9) it won’t get to Mom in time for her big day!
Can’t use 2-day shipping?
If you can’t send your gift via 2-day shipping but still want to send your long-distance mom a little something for Mother’s Day, the following locations offer virtual gift certificates, emailed in an instant.
- Emailed Amazon.com Gift Cards can include a photo (perhaps of you or her grandchildren), and can be scheduled up to a year in advance.
- If clothing is her thing, Gap is offering a great promotion through Mother’s Day: Buy a $50 eGiftCard for Mom, receive a $10 card for yourself!
- Is Mom traveling soon? Travelocity offers eGift Cards redeemable toward a reservation at any of 55,000 hotels worldwide.
Pick up the phone
If you can’t find an eGift that works for your Mom, try picking up the phone and calling her favorite establishment. Chances are, they will be willing and able to create a gift certificate that she can pick up and use on her next visit. Membership-driven establishments will usually be happy to open a membership over the phone – think golf courses, museums and galleries, and fitness facilities.
Who are the Mothers in your life?
The mother of your children is in a special class all her own (and don’t you forget it!), and of course we think of our own mother or mother-figure on Mother’s Day… but sisters, friends, aunts, neighbors, and cousins are Moms, too! I’m always touched when one of these women acknowledge me as a Mom; we all work hard, and when another Mom takes a moment out of her day to tell you you’re doing a great job, it means that much more.
There’s no need to spend a fortune acknowledging all of the Moms in your life. In the next post, we’ll take a look at gifts that touch the heart but don’t cost a dime.
